GAZ Group and Rosseti signed an agreement
GAZ Group, a part of Russia’s leading industrial diversified group Basic Element, and PJSC Rosseti, the operator of energy networks in Russia, signed a cooperation agreement. The subject of the agreement is the partnership in application of modern automotive vehicles to improve the efficiency, reliability and safety of national electric network facilities. The companies are also planning to cooperate in establishment of the power source infrastructure in RF regions for electric transport.
Today GAZ Group and PJSC Rosseti have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of application of modern automotive vehicles for the electricity network of Russia. The document has been signed by GAZ Group President Vadim Sorokin and by CEO PJSC Rosseti Oleg Budargin at Yaroslavl Motor Plant of GAZ Group.
Under the agreement, the companies intend to cooperate in the renewal of the vehicle fleet for the electric power network of the country. PJSC Rosseti owns one of Russia's largest commercial vehicle fleets and is a long-standing partner of GAZ Group. The Russian operator of energy networks uses over 11 thousand GAZ-branded vehicles. To date, the need for new vehicles of the structural units of PJSC Rosseti amounts to several thousand.
GAZ Group produces a wide range of vehicles for emergency repair and installation works on the sites of electric network including in the hard off-road conditions: platform lifts, crane manipulators, service workshops and other specialized vehicles based on light commercial vehicles GAZelle NEXT, GAZelle BUSINESS and Sobol; medium-duty trucks GAZon NEXT, heavy-duty trucks Ural NEXT.
The cooperation of the companies also involves expanding the range of diesel-generator units (DGU) based on the engines made by Yaroslavl Motor Plant of GAZ Group, taking into account the future needs of PJSC Rosseti. The DGU’s based on YAMZ engines, are used as the basic, standby or emergency electric power sources. Their scope of application is vast: power supply of private houses, summer camps and shift rotational camps, industrial and warehouse facilities. The DGU’s are also used to power railway locomotives, open mine trucks, communication units, etc.
The companies also agreed to develop new models of highly environmentally friendly products, including hybrid and electric vehicles, and have plans to cooperate in the establishment of infrastructure for the operation of electric transport in Russian regions. Today GAZ Group is the leading manufacturer of electric motor vehicles: the company was the first in Russia to develop the electric bus and conducted the longest tests of its electric bus on real routes in Moscow during which it covered 13 000 km and transported over 25 000 passengers. GAZ Group has also developed a unified electric platform for the entire model range of GAZelle NEXT vehicles on which basis it is possible to manufacture of drop-side trucks, panel vans and passenger vans.
Oleg Budargin, CEO of PJSC Rosseti:
- The agreement we signed today is based on the traditions of our relations with GAZ Group and shall facilitate their further development. Our biggest challenge is to ensure consistent supplies of energy to our customers and here is where GAZ Group is of great support to us. We will expand our cooperation both in terms of renewal of our existing specialized vehicle and transport fleet and development of the stand-by energy feeding systems. Speaking about the transport of the future, I would like to emphasize that Rosseti and GAZ Group today can joint their efforts to ensure maximum effective conditions for the advanced development of the electric transport system in Russia.
Vadim Sorokin, GAZ Group President:
- GAZ Group and Rosseti have been cooperating for many years. Thousands of vehicles produced by the plants of our company, are operated in the electric power network of the country. Today GAZ Group is ready to provide PJSC Rosseti with the new generation transport which allows to achieve maximum efficiency when solving any kind of challenges. Besides, we are now passing to a new level of cooperation: Rosseti, which is one of the leaders in Russia in introduction of innovative technologies, is becoming an infrastructure partner of GAZ Group in the development of electric transport in RF regions. We plan to jointly develop the most optimal charging solutions depending on specific circumstances and transport needs of the regions of the country which are ready to introduce electric transport.
