GAZ Group launched production of two new models
The capacity of the GAZon NEXT 10 is 5.9 tons. The truck bed will form the basis for the design of a wide range of special equipment for municipal and road services and various spheres of business and agriculture.
The use of innovative design solutions – a new rear suspension and a modernized front suspension, an enlarged front wheel tread, an extended wheel base – has made it possible to not only increase the load capacity, but also to improve the functionality, comfort and driving performance of the vehicle.
The vehicle is fitted with a pneumatic rear axle suspension system, which allows the body height to be adjusted during loading and unloading and to be maintained at a constant level when driving. This ensures the smooth running of the vehicle even when driving on rough roads. The suspension is equipped with Monroe hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers and a transverse stabilizer. The wheel base in the factory version has been increased by 635 mm, which contributes to a more even distribution of the load between the front and rear axles. The increase in the width of the flat body by 27 cm allows 12 standard Euro-pallets to be installed in the bodywork (compared to 10 in the previous model). The gearbox is controlled by a remote control (joystick) located on the dashboard.
The brake system of the vehicle is pneumatic with disk mechanisms on all wheels and ABS and ASR functions. The increase in YMZ-534 engine power up to 170 hp and maximum torque up to 664 Nm improves the traction and dynamic characteristics of the vehicle and reduces the fuel consumption.
The spacious and comfortable cabin of the GAZon NEXT is equipped with a sprung driver’s seat with anatomical support, five levels of adjustment and lumbar support, a 2-DIN radio with control keys on the steering wheel and a Delphi climate control system with windscreen heating functions. The cabin is made of galvanized steel, which has undergone double priming, while the splashers and wheel arches are made of high-duty plastic, which provides a high level of protection against corrosion.
The GAZelle NEXT 4.6 light commercial vehicle can carry up to 2.6 tons of cargo. The chassis of the vehicle will subsequently be applied to the design of a wide range of trucks, vans and minibuses.
The construction features of the vehicle are a new rear axle, a disc braking system on all wheels and ABS, and the increased width of the flat body. In addition to an increased load capacity of up to 2.6 tons, the width of the flat body has been extended by 10 cm (up to 2,160 mm). The vehicle will be equipped with body sides made of a rolled steel profile which has undergone cataphoretic priming, with a minimum number of welded joints. This ensures the high corrosion resistance of the body.
The truck bed of the GAZelle NEXT 4.6 has adopted all the advantages of the GAZelle NEXT 3.5, which has been manufactured since 2013 and is the most popular model on the Russian commercial vehicle market. These include a solid two-link independent front suspension, a spacious and comfortable driver’s cabin, highly informative rack-and-pinion steering, a reinforced frame and an upgraded rear suspension.
The project aimed at development and setting up production of GAZelle Next 4.6 is implemented with support of the Russian Industry Development Foundation.
