The Russian Machines corporation was established in 2005 to unite Basic Element's Manufacturing Sector assets.

Russian Machines is a diversified corporation, with industrial and engineering assets in sectors like automotive, automobile components, railway engineering, aircraft building, road construction machinery and equipment for the armed forces.

Key facts, 2009:

  • More than 70,000 employees
  • More than 64,200 commercial vehicles, 9,850 buses and 7,459 heavy trucks sold
  • One Antonov-An-140-100 aircraft completed and put into service, four Tupolev Tu-154M airliners overhauled
  • A total of 7,829 rail freight cars and flat cars

Main achievements, 2009:

  • Production of the Gazelle Econom launched
  • Aviacor included in cooperation program with United Aircraft Corporation enterprises
  • Mass production of new military vehicles - Tiger-2 and Tiger 233014 - launched; Bear-3 prototype created; new BTR-90 military transport vehicle put into service
  • Joint venture formed with Japan's T.Rad to manufacture aluminum radiators in Nizhny Novgorod

Automobile Production

The GAZ Group is Russia's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer. Its main products are light commercial vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, buses, road construction machinery, engines and fuel equipment.

Automobile components

The Russian Machines autocomponent business includes GAZ Group component production facilities, as well as RM-Systems (LLC), both headquartered in Nizhny Novgorod. In order to develop the autocomponent business, RM is attracting modern technologies, and is developing and acquiring competencies in the assembly and manufacture of key automotive components.

GAZ Group presents new products at ComTrans-2010 exhibition

At the 10th International Specialized Exhibition ComTrans-2010 in Moscow, GAZ Group presents various modifications of the upgraded commercial vehicle GAZelle-BUSINESS, including GAZelle with LPG equipment launched into production together with Italian company OMVL. GAZ Group also exhibits its new buses.

GAZ Group completes debt restructuring

On March 1, 2010 GAZ Group completed restructuring of its RUR 39.3 billion bank debt. The Company entered into 5-year loan agreements with 22 Russian and foreign banks, providing for a two-year grace period for repaying the principal and 6 months grace for interest payments. Sberbank of Russia acted as organizer of the syndicate of GAZ Group's creditor banks, while Raiffeisenbank became documentation agent.
