| UC RUSAL was formed in 2007 as a result of the merger between RUSAL, SUAL and the alumina assets of the Swiss company Glencore. The Company now comprises 15 aluminum smelters, 12 alumina producers, 7 bauxite producers, 3 foil rolling mills and power-generating assets. The main consumers of UC RUSAL’s products are the transport, construction and packaging sectors in 70 countries worldwide. UC RUSAL has its own research, design, project and engineering capabilities and uses the RA-300 and RA-400 technologies.

It supervises and operates 14 power stations located in Siberia and the Volga region, the total established capacity of approximately 19,500 МW. Among them are the Krasnoyarsk and Bratsk hydroelectric power plants which are among the ten largest HPP (hydroelectric power plant) stations in the world. The company has an active modernization program for its power stations, currently including the replacement of 9 out of 12 hydroelectric units at Krasnoyarsk HPP, and extending to a large-scale modernization program for the power stations of JSC Irkutskenergo (EuroSibEnergo is a major stakeholder of the company).
