Ecological program includes several projects. First, it includes an effort to reduce pollution to the environment caused by the expulsion of standing water from airports. The program provides for designing and building structures to filter water from rain shower runoff.
As part of the reconstruction of runways, the following environmental efforts are planned:
- Creation of filtering structures for surface water;
- The construction of platforms for de-icing the aircraft which collect the run-off fluids.
Disposal and management of solid sanitary and construction waste are critically important and being incorporated in the reconstruction programs. Modern technology -- such as impervious screens -- will be utilized in the implementation of all of the works to protect the ground soil and surface waters from byproducts of waste disposal.
A program of eco-monitoring has been developed, which includes control of the condition of surface and ground water and the surrounding atmosphere.
